1 st Sunday of Advent

The world seeks peace, freedom, security, happiness.... It seeks the light. God answers to this deep desire by a promise. Already fulfilled in Jesus Christ, this promise will find its completion upon his return in glory.

Meanwhile, for us here and now, God is active, He takes us from darkness to light. He is alive: let us live like in daylight!

More than ever, we are conscious of a great desire, that of a new day for our world. We want the darkness to disappear from our lives and that of all humanity. We want to see the day and its light.

God calls to awaken us from our slumber so that we can contribute in our own measure and in our own way, a dream of love that can be realized for all humanity.

By remaining vigilant, we can see God’s promise being fulfilled. The Lord places at the heart of the human being forces of love, of solidarity and of compassion…to infinity!

Let us join all these efforts for a better world: solidarity groups, awareness campaigns, concerted actions, etc.. Let us participate in the social life in order to sow hope and confidence in tomorrow.

Let us offer our collaboration to the Lord. Today is the day that we set out so that the light can shine on a new world.

Admittedly, the Lord comes towards us in his multiple gestures of love and of solidarity. We have the privilege of also welcoming him in the Eucharist. He gives himself and we receive him as nourishment for the life of the world.

May He benefit of the place we make for him, in ourselves and in our community, to revive hope.

We bless you, Lord Jesus, suddenness of the dawn of God which rises on the world. We pray: wake us from our slumber, lest our heart become drowsy, come and save us.
