Let us enter into the mystery of the « Holy Week » by the Word of God and the rites. Here is the Christ acclaimed, condemned, crucified ! Jesus Christ infinitely worthy of praise and worthy of compassion ! Infinitely delivered up to powerlessness, infinitely efficacious, as say the three words addressed to the good thief, « Today. With me. In Paradise ».

Look, we face the upsetting path of the Saviour, of the entry into Jerusalem until the deposition of his body in the tomb. Let us make fully ours the prayer of the Church: « Give us the grace to retain the teachings of his passion and to have a part in his resurrection. » The teachings of the Passion? It is to place it in the light of the Servant and his humiliation and of his absolute adhesion to the Father: « Not as I wish, but as you wish ».

« He loved them to the end. » Up to the end, as only God can love. The Eucharist, where the presence of the Lord and his relation to the Father manifest themselves, in the absence, nourish our faith « until He comes ».

« He loved them to the end ». Up to the end, as only God can love. The Eucharist, where the presence of the Lord and his relation to the Father manifest themselves, in the absence, nourish our faith « until He comes ». Already we live, because the words pronounced by Jesus « this is my body » « this is my blood » make now, that which they express, as they became it then at the supper.

God engaged himself totally in the passion of his Son of which the work of salvation concerns us all. He glorifies the Son who became his Servant and who « prayed to him with a great cry and with tears ». He glorified him in his death even and the Church communicates with the hour of Christ and make it its own. In celebrating with faith, it becomes capable of interceding for all.

In the first words, the liturgy of the Word makes us face the look of God on Christ, face to his confidence: « My Servant will succeed ». The account of St. John is a witness of a believer addressed to the faith of believers. John exposes the supreme « sign » that Christ gives his love, that which summarizes all the others, does it with realism, with nobleness, « in order that you may also believe. » The Church listens and responds in a prayer truly universal, since it enters into the silence of Holy Thursday.

The Church has retained its breath. Now its joy burst forth, the great vigil begins with the proclamation of the Resurrection of Christ. Our night illuminated itself ! From book to book, the Word conducts to the Eucharist where we renew our commitments of baptized to those baptized at Easter. Christ is alive and we will live !

« O night, with what brightness you shine ! Death cannot hold in its embrace, the only son ». That which sings this hymn, all the Paschal Vigil celebrates : Christ is risen !

All the world runs today: Peter, John, Mary Magdalene ! To meet Jesus, it is necessary to lighten our heart, to hasten, to have for centre of gravity the unheard of this Easter. « The Christ, Our Easter Lamb, has been sacrificed, » we will live ! in the past event our future has been accomplished, each Eucharist is the sacrament of the definitive Eucharist
