ASHA VIDYAMANDIR Site Visit _2004 Vidyutsadasivapuram, Chittor, AP Prathap Pasuparthi

Creative Grass work at the entrance of the School Mathematics Teacher and last year’s Head master of the school Mr. Munikrishna (left) introduced me to this year’s H M (right) and the staff and some of the brightest students in the school According to Mr.Subbiramaiah, the new H M is more experienced and so he gave him the charge. In the meanwhile, my Aunts and my cousins visited the villagers along with the teachers and got some feedback from them about the school and the way it affected their lives. The ladies in the villages were so happily coming forward to talk to them.

The girl who topped the 7 th class was obviously the inspiration for each and every student in the school. When I asked her about her aim in life, she was so confident about it. She wants to become a Doctor like her sir (Dr.Subbiramaiah) and work for her villagers. And then I gave them a small quiz and I was really excited to see the results In the meanwhile, const Prasad and const Murali were inspecting the health and medical issues of the villagers and the school. They found them pretty satisfactory. Some of the students had some questions and some concerns. I asked them to put them down on paper so that they could communicate with all of us. Mr.Munnikrishna and the rest of the staff were giving me the names of the class toppers and some statistics of the students A girl from class 4 was doing a reading comprehension exercise to the class.

The kitchen has been built using thatched roof. It has two rooms. One is used to cook and the other used to store the cooked food New water tank being built which is used to store the water for cooking and drinking purposes Head cook Mr.Chiranjeevi and Mrs.Parvathamma preparing sambar and Rice for that day. They feel extremely happy with this new profession We were very hungry but we were 10 of us there. So, we changed our plans of joining the lunch. Const Prasad was apparently feeling very hungry it seems and so he ate food without informing us. He admitted this (shamelessly) on our way back home and he also rated the food to be very good and tasty. Two kids singing the latest chiranjeevi’s film tunes And then the kids lined up for PHOTO 2004 and of course they had lot of fun My cousins and aunts were talking with the teachers about the curriculum My Aunts and cousins who had come with me to visit the school, were very interested in the school’s activities. They were planning to get the SV University students to get involved a lot in these projects locally. They are also volunteering to conduct some Meditation, Yoga classes and some sports involving all the schools of rural tirupathi

‘ Asha Vidhyamandir ‘ has not just given these kids a wonderful hope to make their own future, it also provided livelihood for those harassed farmers who otherwise would have been doing some labor work 50 kms away from their homes for some tiny amount of money which would have hardly filled their hungry stomach. And Look at the fate of these kids, they can study in the presence of their parents in the school From Right to Left in the photograph, watchman and his daughter, Head cook Chiranjeevi and his son, Parvathamma and her daughter, laxmamma and her son and daughter. They were some of the happiest parents there. My Pleasure to introduce THE PHOTOGRAPHER of my site visit, my nephew Hemanth.
