Unit 7 Listen To Me Extension Activities

Activity 1: Let’s Solve It Together! Activity 2: How to Say Sorry?

It’s common that parents and children have disagreements, arguments, and quarrels. How do you solve those problems? Show your classmates how you deal with it. Let’s Solve It Together

Goal: In this activity, you have to brainstorm the suitable solutions to five common problems between parents and children. Write them down on a piece of paper, and then vote for the best one.

Before starting the game… ♠ Please divide the class into several groups. Each has at least three students. ♠Give each group 5 pieces of paper.

Let’s Solve It Together Problem 1: My parents just don't trust me in doing anything. They don't allow me to do things such as going out with friends, surfing the Internet, or watching TV.

Problem 2: My parents care so much about my grades. I feel there's no air for me at all. Let’s Solve It Together

Problem 3: My parents don't like the way I dress up myself, and neither do I like the clothes they buy for me. Let’s Solve It Together

Problem 4: My parents screen my phone calls. Sometimes they even overhear my talking on the phone. Let’s Solve It Together

Problem 5: My parents don't let me decide what I want to do in the future. They set a goal for me, but that’s not what I want to be. Let’s Solve It Together

☻Now, post all the pieces of paper on the blackboard or billboard according to the sequence of problems. ☻Ask students to vote for the best solutions. Let’s Solve It Together

It’s said that sorry seems to be the hardest word to say. Actually it’s not true. It’s just that we don’t have the custom to do so. Here we’re showing you some ways to express your sorry. How to Say Sorry?

First look at the following expressions to see if you know what they mean. Then try to memorize those expressions.

How to Say Sorry? 1.Please forgive me for …. 2.I'm very sorry that …. 3.Please send my apology to …. 4.There's really no excuse for …. 5.I deeply regret …. 6.I must beg your pardon, I …. 7.Please let me take back everything I said.

Goal: This activity is to help students get familiar with the expressions to show apologies. How to Say Sorry?

How to Play ۞ Divide the class into two groups. ۞ When the situation is shown on the slide, each group has to come up with an apology using the 7 ones shown previously. ۞ The one whose sentence is more complete and suitable for the situation wins one point.
