WWII By James Woods 9C

Nature of the fighting During WWII, the nature of the fighting on all oppositional countries was different. The table below shows a comparison. The Soviet Un ion Rape – Violent (Women and Children) Loot – Victims houses Arson attacks – Houses and structures Desire for revenge The far east Camouflage Stealthy

Environmental Conditions During WWII, the environmental conditions affected the war in a big way. The table below shows how this affected the fighting. The Soviet Un ion Winter (-15oC) causing ‘slow downs’ They dug holes to excrete – Horrible! Too hot in summer, causing ‘slowness’ The far east Sweaty due to extreme hot weather Uneven terrain – even worse in heat! Swamps were revolting to fight in. Tropical rains made clothes heavy

How video games portray WWII Many people these days play games such as Call of Duty and Medal of Honour. The fact behind these games can often be seen as ‘untrue’ and ‘unrealistic’ compared to real war. Whilst there is some historical fact inside the games, the games do not show how life was really like during the war. These games may also persuade people of a young age to join the army and go to war, thinking its all ‘fun and games’, when there is much more to it than just ‘shooting’ people.

Accuracy behind Video Games The history and factual knowledge behind Video games is often misleading. The companies that make these games often adjust the story's and game play, to make money and appeal to a younger audience. For example, When comparing Call of Duty and Medal of Honour to the same scene, the storyline is different in both games.
