1 PROPAGANDA Propaganda – (noun) information that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause. Usually biased information used to shape public opinion and behavior. In WWII, propaganda was used more than any other time this world has seen. With new technological inventions such as photography, radio and film, manipulative messages bombarded everyday life in an attempt to persuade a person to believe in a specific cause.

4 Rosie the Riveter An image that symbolized women working in the war industries. It was used to encourage women to help fill traditional male roles while men were fighting in the war.

8 Rationing The distribution of a fixed amount of items that are in short supply. Citizens back on the homefront were asked to support the war effort by using fixed amounts of scarce resources needed for the war, such as shoes, metal, rubber, gas, sugar, coffee, meat, and butter.
