Transportation Tuesday TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY GOOD TYRES ARE THE FOUNDATION OF A SAFE JOURNEY APPROXIMATELY 70% OF ALL TYRES ARE UNDERINFLATED (too soft)

Transportation Tuesday HOW YOU KNOW THERE’S A PROBLEM WITH YOUR TYRES  an uncomfortable journey - you feel every bump  skidding  steering wheel wobbles in your hand  difficult to steer  squealing noise when you turn the corner (and it’s not your passengers)  tyres look out of shape

Transportation Tuesday WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF YOU IGNORE IT?  blowout - we’ve all seen pieces of rubber on the road  your car is uncontrollable in an emergency, or cannot stop quickly  under-inflated tyres can overheat and cause vehicle fires  you waste money - you are damaging your tyres and will have to replace them early  you damage the environment - under-inflated tyres make your engine work harder and you use more fuel

Transportation Tuesday WHEN SHOULD I CHECK MY TYRES? when they look flat at least once each month every two weeks in very hot weather before a long journey you’re too late! WARNING! You cannot check tyre pressure by looking at a tyre or by kicking it.

Transportation Tuesday TOP TYRE TIPS Check the tyre pressure for your vehicle : look inside the glove box, driver’s door or owner’s manual for details. Most petrol stations have tyre check areas where you can put more air in your tyres. Do not use tyres of different construction such as bias, belted or radial, on the same axle. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the types of tyres on each axle. Rotate your tyres every 6-8,000 miles (10, ,000 km) to maximise their lifespan. Remember to check the spare tyres as well. Also look regularly for signs of wear. Check pressure when the tyres are cool. Use a good tyre gauge. play safe - let the experts do this

Transportation Tuesday A TYRE IS CONSIDERED DANGEROUSLY UNDERINFLATED IF IT HAS JUST 4LBS PER SQUARE INCH (28kPA) LESS PRESSURE THAN RECOMMENDED
