What is the effect of carbon dioxide on sweet pea plant growth? We think that the sweet peas grown with carbon dioxide will grow faster and healthier. Constant Variables: Sweet Peas, soil, pots, and water. Experimental Variables: Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen. What is the effect of carbon dioxide on sweet pea plant growth? 4 sweet pea plants 4 pots 2 ziploc bags 6 cups of soil 700 ml. of water CO2 from car Rubber gloves (amount may vary)

Procedure  Buy 4 sweet pea plants and 4 pots  Put sweet peas in 1 1/2 cups of soil  Put 2 of the plants into clear ziploc bags  Fill a rubber glove with car exhaust (Put the glove on the tail pipe. Turn on the car for just a second. The glove will inflate. Fill the ziploc bags with the carbon dioxide.)  Observe and refill bags with CO2 each week, and water when necessary  Buy 4 sweet pea plants and 4 pots  Put sweet peas in 1 1/2 cups of soil  Put 2 of the plants into clear ziploc bags  Fill a rubber glove with car exhaust (Put the glove on the tail pipe. Our hypothesis was incorrect because the sweet peas grown in the oxygen grew faster and healthier than the sweet peas grown in CO2. If we were to do our project again we would water the sweet peas more often. Our new hypothesis: We think that the sweet peas grown in oxygen will grow faster and healthier than the ones in the CO2. Our recommendation to sweet pea growers is to grow them in oxygen.
