F IRST C APITAL E NGINEERING 48 S. Richland Ave. York PA | Phone: | Fax: | MULTIWAY STOP WARRANT ANALYSIS Meets the FHWA’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) warrants for a multiway stop controlled intersection. Warrants based primarily on Volume and Accident rates. Accidents: There is a high percentage of right angle collisions at the intersection that can be reduced with a multiway stop intersection. 16 accidents since *MUTCD: Crashes that are “susceptible to correction by a multi- way stop installation” include right and left turn collisions and right angle collisions. Pedestrians: The intersection is a designated crossing area for school students. Crosswalks marked in all four directions. Kingston Road & Cortleigh Drive Multiway stop signs do not control speed 1 Traffic Calming Measure must be implemented to control speeding issues on Kingston Road and Cortleigh Drive and help prevent accidents. 1 Bretherton, Martin, Jr., Multiway Stops: The Research Shows the MUTCD is Correct!, ITE Traffic Documents. There were 8 reportable accidents since Average accident rate from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s “Homogeneous Report for Accidents in Years 2002 to 2006” for roads with similar attributes:
