Passport Program UNC Charlotte/CPCC partnership Started in 2010 to create a clear path for transfer that provides structured advising and assistance through the admissions process. Develop a more prepared transfer student- minimize transfer shock. Long-standing relationship with Central Piedmont Community College/largest feeder- over 850 students enroll each year. Students are selected from UNC Charlotte’s pool of denied local applicants. Use specific criteria to identify students who will be successful in the program. Enroll Passport students annually.

Program Benefits: Priority registration for their first semester at CPCC One on one academic advising at CPCC Dedicated admissions advisor at UNC Charlotte Passport Orientation for new students and parents in July Monthly Passport newsletter UCOL 1000 course offered at UNC Charlotte Fast-track courses at CPCC Social and academic programming at both campuses Basketball/baseball game tickets Theater/dance productions Student Life events Students do not need to reapply for admission at UNC Charlotte Priority admissions decisions Passport Program

Program Outcomes: 1.After one semester at UNC Charlotte, the average GPA of a Passport student has consistently increased from Their performance is equal to or greater than all transfer students who enrolled with between hours of transfer credit. 2.After one semester at UNC Charlotte, the average GPA of students who completed the UCOL 1000 course has on average been higher than Passport students who did not complete the course. 3.Many Passport students quickly become active on campus upon their arrival. We have had students participate in athletics, join Residence Hall council, become tour guides, study abroad and report for the student media group (this student covered the DNC for UNC Charlotte during her first week on campus).
