Global Service27 January 2001 EXERCISE SAM VG2 alignment HOW?

Global Service28 January 2001 EXERCISE SAM VG2 alignment (cut off voltages) Use a pattern generator to display a blank raster. Tune the pattern generator to a frequency of MHz (channel 3) Switch on the TV to channel 3 or by pressing the CH+/CH- keys.. Press the "MENU" key on the RC key Select BRIGHTNESS / CONTRAST and change the value to 0 with the LEFT/RIGHT keys. Adjust VG2 potentiometer (located on the LOT 5445) by measure the black current pulses. Method of Measurements : Ground the scope at the CRT panel. Connect the 10:1 probe at any cathodes of the picture tube socket (pins 7 - RED, pin 9 - GREEN and pin 3 - BLUE). Measure the level of the black current measuring pulses. Global Service49 January 2001 L01 PRACTICAL EXERCISE 1. Deflection 2. Over voltage protection 3. No start-up 4. No picture 5. Half picture (vert. deflection) 6. Screen without picture & sound

Global Service50 January 2001 L01 PRACTICAL EXERCISE 1 DeflectionDeflection Fault Symptom : Set is dead, set makes hiccuping sound Task : switch on set verify the problem locate the problem Hint: Desolder coil 5561 to isolate mainsupply from other supplies. What happens with hiccuping Deliverable: Write down the cause and the way to repair the set Answer: Mainsupply is available, Hiccuping stops when desoldering 5561, meaning that problem is in mainsupply line. however no output voltages present at LOT, no horizontal deflection due to defective line transistor Q7460.

Global Service51 January 2001 L01 PRACTICAL EXERCISE 2 Over voltage protection Symptom : Set in hiccup mode, shut down after 8 sec (in protection mode) Task: switch on set verify the problem locate the problem Hint: In SDM mode flashing led indicates error 5 Deliverable: Write down the cause and the way to repair the set Answer: As error 5 (microprocessor power on reset) and (+8 volt protection), it is unlikely both parts are defective. µC is not able to address the parts and puts the set in 8V protection. Problem is caused by missing +8V due to defective of 7480.

Global Service52 January 2001 L01 PRACTICAL EXERCISE 3 No start-up Answer: No output sensing due to defective of (o/c) optocoupler 7515 and cause the UOC stdby_con at logic HIGH (measure point 6566 of A1). This signal is generated by the UOC during standby mode and protection mode when over current takes place at the MainAux supply. This signal is of logic LOW (0V) under normal operation of the set and goes to logic HIGH (3V3) under standby & Fault condition. Symptom : Set in hiccup (non stop) mode Task: switch on set verify the problem locate the problem Hint: Set is in over current protection mode, check the secondary sensing and VBATT. Deliverable: Write down the cause and the way to repair the set

Global Service53 January 2001 L01 PRACTICAL EXERCISE 4 Set No working (dead set) Answer: The power supply control IC7520 input and output pins voltage are very high this is due to the output driver pin 6 open load. Mosfet 7521 is not able to do switching without driver signal from the pin 6 of power supply control IC7520. so the problem is caused by the defective of R3523. Symptom : set is dead Task: switch on set verify the problem locate the problem Hint: set turn on without any hiccup or switching sound from the power supply circuit. Check power supply IC7520 (voltage at pins 1,3,4,5,6 at about 180 volt and pin 8 is 0 volt) Deliverable: Write down the cause and the way to repair the set

Global Service54 January 2001 L01 PRACTICAL EXERCISE 5 Half picture (vert. deflection) Answer: As Vlotaux+11 volt & +50 volt are okay. problem is expected to be in vertical amplifier IC By using scope measure the Output from pin 17 of the UOC waveform is okay but the input of the FRAME Vdrive + signal is missing. so the problem is caused by open Vdrive +, Due to defective of (o/c) R3244. Symptom : Set turn on with half screen appear on bottom, Sound OK. Task: switch on set verify the problem locate the problem Hint: In SDM flashing led shows error 3 indicating frame protection. Deliverable: Write down the cause and the way to repair the set

Global Service55 January 2001 L01 PRACTICAL EXERCISE 6 Screen without Picture & Sound Answer: problem is expected to be in the Tuner As Vlotaux +5 volt at tuner pin5 & 7 are okay, missing VT Supply at the tuner pin 9. Problem is caused by defective of (o/c) R3460. Symptom : Set turn on without picture and Sound. Task: switch on set verify the problem locate the problem Hint: Screen with snow, OSD and other menu function okay. In SDM flashing led shows error 11 Deliverable: Write down the cause and the way to repair the set
