Footer Text Date Merging of the Three Valley MPOs Reasons for TxDOT Initiative: Region will have ONE voice, providing a much greater opportunity for funding regional-type projects (i.e. FM 1925). Single regional MPO for the Valley would have almost 1.1 million people in the urbanized area and rank as the fifth largest in the state by population, following D-FW, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. TxDOT Commission and Administration have urged local officials in the past to consider merging the MPOs, most notably at the 9/26/2013 TxDOT Commission meeting held in McAllen. Space X, 2 nd Access, Mazatlan-Matamoros Mexican Superhighway, Mexican oil/gas privatization, UT-RGV, Interstates. A single regional MPO would be able to identify regional-type projects needed to address the following major developments: One set of planning documents, (TIP, MTP, etc.) for the region instead of three separate ones.
