What is Logistics?  Logistics is the management of the flow of resources between the point of origin and the point of destination. All types of companies rely on logistics and Supply Chain Management to get their products, equipment, people and resources from one location to another. Maritime Logistics/Third Party Logistics (3PL) Retail Logistics Oilfield Logistics Chemical / Petroleum Refinery

What types of companies are related to Maritime Logistics / Third Party Logistics (3PL)?  Steamship Line Ops  Involved in the day to day operations of the ship including navigational safety, cargo, ballast and tank cleaning and inspections.  Maintaining safety standards and procedures is a key part of the job as well as environmental management. You may also be required to act as a member of an Emergency Response Team.  Port Operations  Responsible for supporting the creation, management and coordination of the vessel’s worldwide itinerary, expeditions and explorations. Ensuring compliance with port regulations and requirements.  The role is critical to Destination Services, Operations and Sales & Marketing and works in collaboration within these groups

Maritime Logistics / Third Party Logistics (3PL)  Longshoremen (ILA)  Help ensure that a country’s goods are shipped and delivered to their destination safely and on time.  Also called dockworkers, generally work on shipping docks and at ports where cargo is loaded and unloaded from tanks, ships and other water vessels.  Stevedoring  Manually load and unload ship cargo.  Stack cargo in transit shed or in hold of ship using pallet or cargo board.  Attach and move slings to lift cargo.  Guide load lift.

Maritime Logistics / Third Party Logistics (3PL)  Railroad  Engineer Responsible for operating the locomotive.  Conductor In charge of train in its entirety, and of the train crew at large.  Brakeman Inspects the train, assists the conductor, operates the brakes and assists in switching.  Fireman Steam locomotive crew who feeds the firebox with fuel. On diesel locomotives, the firemen would monitor controls and assist the engineer.  And more!  Transportation  Operate commercial vehicles transferring donation containers and/or processed goods in a safe and efficient manner.

Maritime Logistics / Third Party Logistics (3PL)  Freight Forwarding / Customs Brokerage  Ensure Import and Export Compliance is maintained companywide.  Develop Export Controls  Interaction with Brokers  Import and Export documentation retention  Work with various government agencies  Warehousing  Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area.  Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders and printing requests.  Maintains quality service by following organization standards.  Completes reports by entering required information.  Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
