 Very good start!  Working hard and behaving well!  All seem happy!  Very impressive!

 During a week in class we cover these subjects: Numeracy (daily) Literacy (daily) Topic (5 times a week) Science (twice a week) P.E. (twice a week) R.E. Additional Literacy I.C.T. (once a week but easy to get more for e.g. research) Spanish Comprehension Handwriting Golden Time

 More information about certain lessons and topics we will be covering.

 Looking at ‘Forces’ during this half term.  Gravity/upthrust/air and water resistance/friction/propulsion

 Incorporates Geography, History, Art, Design Technology and Music.  Looking at ‘Belfast and Barcelona’ for this half term.  Geographical studies with research and artwork from Miro and Dali

 Other Topics this year are: Air Raid Shelters Brazil Britain since th Century Artists John Lennon, Mountains and Orienteering

 2 lessons per week.  Fitness lesson on Tuesday lesson 5.  Curriculum lesson on Friday lesson 2.  Fitness – done as a circuit with different fitness/co-ordination bases.  Curriculum will cover Dance, Gymnastics, Invasion Games, Net/wall Games, Striking and Fielding Games and Outdoor and Adventurous Activities.

 Currently looking at the Dance Topic.  Split into 2 halves.  The Haka (here if want to see it!)here  Create their own moves to fit with the audio.  Street Dance – like Diversity from Britain's Got Talent.

 Required kit consists of: Plain t-shirt Plain shorts Pumps  Earrings must be removed or covered with a plaster for P.E. lessons. Plasters must be sent from home.

 Golden Time  Behaviour Points  Hit and miss marks  Team points  Book bags – every day please!  Worry Box

 Year 6 children have responsibilities and jobs to fulfil.  Children chose jobs and will change after half term.  Wake and Shake rota.

 Spellings and Mental Maths weekly.  Handed out on Friday – collected in on Friday at the latest.  Both sheets and both online tests must be completed each week.  Other homework will be given when necessary.

 Set for Numeracy and Literacy every half term.  Displayed in classroom and on website.  Covered at specific times each week.  Feel free to continue at home!

 In May.  At the moment, we are completing the SAT’s tests this year.  Even if this changes, you will get information about your child’s level.  Reassure your children there is nothing to worry about!

 Form can be completed on paper and handed back to our school office OR online.  Date for completion is 31 st October 2010.

 Many sports clubs open to Year 6 children.  Currently handball, football and tag rugby.  Later in the year watch out for Table Tennis, Cricket and possibly Cheerleading and Badminton.  If you can’t attend a club, please tell the teacher in charge.  If your child wants to leave a club, please put it in writing.  Homework club will start later in the year.  Links to local sports clubs available – ask!

 Link with St James in Haslingden has been running for 2 years.  Continue this year.  Meet again during year.  Year 6 leaving event.
