Product Lifecycle Management © 2003 IBM Corporation TMS Aritex Cading designs line right the first time with CATIA  Customer background oTMS-Aritex Cading designs and produces turnkey welding and assembly line installations for the world’s leading automotive and aerospace manufacturers.  Business challenges oThe level of responsibility TMS is assuming for each line it designs has steadily increased, putting more of the conceptual work on its shoulders oMultiple CAD systems used to receive native data from OEMs were cumbersome and expensive to use and maintain oErrors undetected until system startup were expensive, time-consuming and damaging to client relations  Solution implementation oCATIA V5 running on 12 workstations oNC milling and wire erosion applications oENOVIA 3Dcom for process studies and customer collaboration oIntegration with DELMIA IGRIP package for robot simulation oCustomised implementation and training from IBM Business Partner CADTECH  Benefits of the solution oCATIA is the standard among automotive and aerospace OEMs oAbility to work with native data gives TMS a competitive advantage with OEMs oHigher quality designs due to ability to explore more options and alternatives oHigh degree of assurance the design will be right the first time, saving significant time and expense at startup time oKnowledgeware semi-automates the selection and adaptation of standard designs

Product Lifecycle Management © 2003 IBM Corporation Assembly line maker gains speed, flexibility with CATIA  The Industry Aritex Cading, a division of TMS, designs and produces turnkey welding and assembly line installations for the world’s leading automotive and aerospace manufacturers. Based in Spain, Aritex Cading has 250 employees and prides itself on delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions to its clients.  The Challenge The level of responsibility Aritex-Cading is assuming for each line it designs has steadily increased, putting more of the conceptual work on its shoulders. As its responsibilities increased, its use of multiple CAD systems for different clients became more cumbersome and its ability to deliver error-free systems was compromised.  The Solution As the standard for design in the automotive and aerospace industries, CATIA V5 and its multi-CAD capabilities allowed Aritex- Cading to do more with less. “CATIA V5 gives us higher quality design. It means we can explore more options and alternatives and we know the result will be right the first time.” -- Llorenç Cavaller, Head of Engineering, TMS-Aritex Cading

Product Lifecycle Management © 2003 IBM Corporation TMS Aritex Cading S.A. of Bacelona, Spain, specialises in assembly and welding lines for the automotive and aerospace industries. Its customers include numerous automotive manufacturers (OEMs) throughout Europe, Central and South America. The company was formed through acquisitions. Aritex was founded in 1961 to produce automotive assembly lines. Cading was founded in 1986 to perform engineering for Aritex. Both companies were acquired in 1999 by the Transport and Montage (Assembly) Systems or TMS Group. Today TMS is a subsidiary of the French group VINCI Energies, one of the world’s top five suppliers of assembly line systems with about 20% market share. Assembly line maker counts on CATIA V5 “We know that CATIA has become the standard in the automotive industry. Consequently, we viewed our purchase of 12 seats of CATIA V5 as both a logical choice and a safe investment.” Llorenç Cavaller, Head of Engineering, TMS- Aritex Cading
