MALE AND FEMALE ANATOMY

MALE REPRODUCTIVE ANATOMY AND FUNCTION

SEMINAL VESICLE URINARY BLADDER VAS DEFERENS EJACULATORY DUCT PROSTATE GLAND COWPER’S GLAND URETHRA EPIDIDYMIS SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES PENIS TESTIS SCROTUM

MALE VOCABULARY EXTERNAL ORGANDS PENIS- IS THE MALE ORGAN OF SEXUAL PLEASURE, REPRODUCTION, AND URINATION SCROTUM – IS A SAC-LIKE POUCH IN THE GROIN THAT HAS TWO BASIC FUNCTIONS: TO HOLD THE TESTES AND TO REGULATE THE TEMPERATURE OF THE TESTES

INTERNAL ANATOMY TESTES – ARE THE TWO MALE REPRODUCTIVE GLANDS INSIDE THE SCROTUM THAT SECRETE THE MALE HORMONE TESTOSTERONE AND PRODUCE SPERM. SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES – ARE A COILED NETWORK OF TUBES THAT FILL THE SECTIONS IN EACH TESTIS. (SPERMATOGENESIS)

INTERNAL ANATOMY EPIDIDYMIS – IS A COMMA-SHAPED STRUCTURE FOUND ON THE BACK AND UPPER SURFACE OF EACH TESTIS. SPERM MATURE FOR ABOUT 2 TO 6 WEEKS IN THE EPIDIDYMIS. SPERM THEN MOVE TO THE VAS DEFERENS. VAS DEFERENS – ARE TWO LONG, THIN CORDS THAT EXTEND FROM THE EPIDIDYMIS IN THE SCROTUM, UP THROUGH THE INGUINAL CANAL, AND INTO THE ABDOMEN. SEMINAL VESICLES – ARE TWO SMALL GLANDS AT THE ENDS OF EACH VAS DEFERENS THAT SECRETE AN ALKANLINE FLUID RICH IN FRUCTOSE, A SUGAR NUTRIENT THAT IS A SOURCE OF ENERGY FOR SPERM

INTERNAL ANATOMY PROSTATE GLAND – IS A GLAND THAT PRODUCES AN ALKALINE FLUID THAT AIDS SPERM LONGEVITY COWPER’S GLAND – ARE TWO SMALL PEA-SIZED GLANDS LOCATED ON EACH SIDE OF THE URETHRA AND SECRETE A LUBRICATION FLUID.

VOCABULARY ERECTION – IS AN INVOLUNTARY PROCESS THAT OCCURS WHEN THE SPONGY LAYERS INSIDE THE PENIS ARE ENGORGED WITH BLOOD AND THE PENIS ELONGATES. ORGANSM – IS AN EXPLOSIVE DISCHARGE OF NEUROMUSCULAR TENSIONS AT THE PEAK OF SEXUAL RESPONSE AND IS MARKED BY RHYTHMIC CONTRACTIONS AND A SENSE OF PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL RELEASE. EJACULATION – IS A SUDDEN EXPULSION OF SEMINAL FLUID FROM AN ERECT PENIS

FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM ANATOMY AND FUNCTION

FALLOPIAN TUBE OVARY UTERUS CERVIX LABIA MINORA LABIA MAJORA VAGINA

FEMALE ANATOMY (EXTERIOR OR VULVA) MONS PUBIS – IS A PAD OF FATTY TISSUE THAT COVERS THE FRONT OF THE PUBIC BONE AND SERVES AS A PROTECTIVE CUSHION FOR THE FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS LABIA MAJORA – THE OUTER LIPS, OR HEAVY FOLDS OF SKIN, SURROUNDING THE OPENING OF THE VAGINA LABIA MINORA – TWO SMALLER LIPS, OR FOLDS OF SKIN, LOCATED BETWEEN THE LABIA MAJORA. CONTAINS THE CLITORIS, URETHRA, AND VAGINA CLITORIS – IS A SMALL, HIGHLY SENSITIVE, CYLINDRICAL BODY PROJECTING BETWEEN THE LABIA MINORA

FEMALE ANATOMY (INTERIOR) THE OVARIES – TWO ALMOND SHAPED FEMALE SEX GLANDS THAT PRODUCE OVA AND SECRETE HORMONES FALLOPIAN TUBE – IS A TUBE THAT EXTENDS FROM NEAR THE OVARIES TO THE UTERUS UTERUS – THE ORGAN THAT PREPARES EACH MONTH TO RECEIVE A FERTILIZED OVUM, TO SUPPORT THE FERTILIZED OVUM DURING PREGNANCY AND TO CONTRACT DURING CHILDBIRTH TO HELP WITH DELIVERY CERVIX – THE LOWEST PART OF THE UTERUS VAGINA – IS A MUSCULAR PASSAGEWAY THAT LIES BETWEEN THE BLADDER AND THE RECTUM, AND IT SERVES AS THE FEMALE ORGAN OF INTERCOURSE. THE BIRTH CANAL, AND PASSAGEWAY FOR THE MENSTRAL FLOW AND THE ARRIVING SPERM
