Independence School District Child and Family Learning Center (CFLC) History:  1979: Started Head Start Services  1981: ISD piloted new program called P.A.T.  1987: Independences implements Dr Ed Zigler’s Schools of the 21 st Century through a grant from the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation  1988: Two schools began pre-school, before and after care, and flip-flop (AM/PM) Kindergarten  1990: ISD began Family Literacy (Even Start)  1995: Partners with Local Investment Commission to create Caring Communities
