7 Early Learning Guidelines and Program Standards Age Groups  Young Infants - Birth to 8 months  Mobile Infants - 8 to 18 months  Toddlers - 18 to 24 months  Twos – 24-36 months  Note: An additional section addresses the three-year-olds

8 Early Learning Guidelines and Program Standards Inclusion of All  The guidelines and standards in this document reflect relationship-based practice that is individualized to meet the specific needs of every child  Caregivers can easily modify the approaches to include children of all abilities

13 Louisiana Standards for Programs Serving Four-Year-Old Children Correlated to:  Louisiana K-4 State Standards  NAEYC Criterion  ECERS-R Items  Head Start Performance Standards  Head Start Child Outcomes

14 Louisiana Standards for Programs Serving Four-Year-Old Children In 2005, Louisiana developed Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) to further the define the Content Standards in all grades PreK to 12 th In 2006, Louisiana developed the Comprehensive Curriculum for all grades PreK to 12 th to provide teachers with lessons to address the GLEs

15 Louisiana Standards for Programs Serving Four-Year-Old Children Inclusion for All:  Accommodations are provided with each area of development  Partial participation is acceptable for some children according to their abilities  Access Guide is being developed to accompany the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum

16 ASSESSMENT Birth to Four-year-olds (non-public)  Quality Start – Quality Rating System  Voluntary rating evaluation for child care and Head Start  Screening for Social-Emotional Development  Training for all staff on both documents required for higher points on QRS

17 ASSESSMENT Four-year-olds (public)  Grade level expectations (GLEs)  Comprehensive curriculum (LCC)  Both are correlated to Louisiana Content Standards for 4-year-olds  Portfolio Assessment
