Smooth muscles:We can’t contr ol these muscles. They are divi ded into two groups: single-uni t muscle and multi-unit muscle. They are found within the wal ls of the blood vessel Cardiac muscles: We can’t c ontrol these muscles. They are found in the walls and t he foundation of the heart, specifically the myocardiu m. Skeletal muscles: We can cont rol these muscles. It exists un der control of the somatic ner vous system, that it is volunta ry controlled. It is made up of individual components known as myocatyes, or "muscle cells ", sometimes called "muscle fi bers".

Muscles can only pull, they cannot, as some people assume, push.  There are 640 individual names for muscles. Muscles need oxygen and food to function properly. The hardest working muscles in the body are the muscles in the eye.
