2 Muscular System Body has more than 600 muscles
Muscle move by pulling, never pushing. Muscle tissue is made up of Protein (amino acids).

3 Muscle Types skeletal (or voluntary/striated) muscle, the most abundant tissue in the human body, producing movement.

4 Muscle Types smooth (involuntary) muscle, forming the muscle layers in the walls of the digestive tract, bladder, arteries and veins, and other internal organs

5 Muscle Types Cardiac-the heart muscle

6 Skeletal Muscles Upper Body / Anterior
Deltoid – shoulder Pectorals- chest Abdominals Oblique Bicep

7 Skeletal Muscles Lower Body / Anterior
Quadriceps – anterior side of femur Hamstrings – posterior side of femur Gluteus Maximus – butt muscles Gluteus Minimus

8 Skeletal Muscles Upper Body / Posterior
Trapezius – upper back (a) Latissimus Dorsi – middle of back (c) Triceps

9 Skeletal Muscles Lower Body / Posterior
Gastrocnemius- calf muscle Soleus
