ESSAY: Event that Caused the War Alternate: Were the Colonist’s Justified in War?

IBC Format Intro, Body, Conclusion Use an opener (hook) Intro provides background data and your thesis (one sentence for thesis) Use “I” only when expressing your opinion. Do not refer to yourself or what you are ‘doing’

Lead-ins A ‘lead-in’ is a statement of information that sets up you being able to use a quote, or introduce a fact. It is often background information to the topic/quote. The kind of data found in a lead in are facts of the who, what, when, where, why, how of the thing you are referring to.

Lead in example: British colonists were eager to settle in the new land that had been won and awarded to Britain after the Treaty of Paris in King George III decided to make the area off limits to colonists that wanted to settle east of the Appalachian Mountains. The Proclamation of 1763 angered colonists who wanted to settle in the Ohio River Valley. The colonists felt it unfair since they had just fought in the French and Indian War that brought that land to Britain.
