Drawing as a discussion tool will be broken down into discussion sessions. The artist displays the drawing and the group states something about the picture. Problem: After the first two people discuss what they believe the picture represents, what else could be said? Brainstorm other things you can discuss about the picture.

Explain what is going on with other characters during the same time as the scene illustrated. Explain how the picture relates back to something that happened earlier in the story. Imagine a change of story events and then explain how the picture would change as a result of that change. Describe how you imagined this scene as you read. What did you see differently than the artist?

Each member gets to ask the artist a question about their illustration. What could we possibly ask after we each explained it? Brainstorm some possible questions….

1.Why did you chose that character to draw? 2.What interested you about that part of the story? 3.What details would you have added it you had more time? 4.Where was this in the story? What passage would you use as a caption? 5.What feelings does this scene show? 6.What's another part of the story that would make a good illustration? 7.Which details in your drawing are most important to the story? 8.If you were a great artist, what scene would you have drawn instead? 9.How does the drawing show symbolism, irony, or a moral? 10.If you became a new character in the story, where would you be in the drawing?
