Types of Research Projects

Areas of Research Projects

18 AAPNI Yojna is a saga of brave acts, dedication perseverance, and never-say- die mindset of the project people – five NGOs the Government of Rajasthan and the Government of Federal Republic of Germany. The consortium was, from the very beginning, clear about its approach, an innovative, hitherto untried approach – involving the communities at every stage planning decision- making, maintenance and management. A veritable model of self-government! It soon became a people’s – Community Participation Unit (CPU), one of the wings of Aapni Yojna, became a people’s organization. The CPU empowered the people. The people came to believe that they are the owners of the water supply scheme and they are the customers. This belief inculcated in them a sense of responsibility. They paid water charges without default;; they checked wastage of water Community Based Management of Rural Water Supply – AAPNI Yojna

19 In the post conflict period, the Government of Afghanistan was mandated by the international community to set up delivery of healthcare services on priority. The International community pooled resources to enable the Government to offer these services. The MoPH, Afghanistan, invited JHU/IIHMR teams to provide technical support for monitoring and evaluation support, and act as the Third Party evaluation for the delivery of health services. The JHU/IIHMR team in consultation with the MoPH developed a Balanced Scorecard for monitoring health services in Afghanistan. IIHMR played a major role in capacity building of the Afghan national for managing health services. Currently, the Institute is engaged in revision of communication strategy, formulation of health research policy and also the biggest ever national level Afghanistan Mortality Survey with ICF MACRO IIHMR in Afghanistan
