*Born in The Wallowa Valley *His father died when he was in his teens *He only saw his mom when he was born *The Nez Perce War happened

* His dad died and then he became chief * His dad died in the Wallowa War

The Nez Perce Wars happened. There were two wars. The first one his dad fought in and died. The second one he fought in.

Joseph’s long journey  Joseph moved to Idaho with his band(tribe) because the government forced his tribe to move.

jsajska *His tribe, the Nez Perce moved to Oklahoma. *He moved to Oklahoma in June because the government forced his tribe to move again.

He gave a speech in Washington D.C. His speech was that he wanted peace between his tribe and the U.S. government. It really improved how the government treated the Nez Perce tribe.

He was caring because he protected his tribe instead of worrying about himself. He was brave because he fought for his tribe with no one looking after him.

“For myself, I don’t care. It’s for them I will surrender.” It means that he wanted to protect his tribe from death no matter what.
