What the Career & Technical High School is NOT Thibodaux Tech is not an alternative school. Thibodaux Tech is not a watered-down curriculum. Thibodaux Tech is a regular, four-year high school teaching the TOPS and TOPS TECH curriculums

What Does the CTHS Offer? Students at Thibodaux Tech will explore four career pathways as freshmen, and choose one pathway to concentrate on as sophomores. The four pathways and the classes associated with them are: 1)Advanced Manufacturing: Air conditioning and refrigeration; automotive technology; civil surveying and mapping; drafting and design technology; electrician; industrial electronics; machine tool technology; welding; carpentry.

What Does the CTHS Offer? 2)Health & Applied Sciences: clinical lab assistant; medical office assistant; certified nurse assistant; patient care technician; health sciences; emergency medical technician; pharmacy technician. 3)Business Information Systems: accounting technology; graphic communications; information technology (networking, programming, support); office systems technology; marketing. 4)Human Services: barber styling; child care and development; culinary arts; cosmetology; fashion design; photography; criminal justice; tourism and lodging.

Typical Day For a CTHS Student Students will take all of their core academic subjects, but instead of sitting at desks and learning from books, they will work in teams around tables. Academics will be applied to the real world. For instance, geometry could be used to measure and cut wood for carpentry, or to design a hairstyle. Thibodaux Tech students will use technology every day in every class. Technology is infused into every lesson and every subject at Thibodaux Tech. Every lesson aims to answer the question: “Why do I need to learn this?”

Typical Day For a CTHS Student As freshmen, Thibodaux Tech students will take classes in LPSS buildings located on the campus of the Acadiana Technical College. As sophomores, they will also begin taking classes at Acadiana Technical College. Classes will begin at noon and last until 6:30 p.m. Transportation will be provided by LPSS

Current and Future for Thibodaux Tech This fall, Thibodaux Tech will open with 100 students in temporary quarters on the campus of the Acadiana Technical College on Bertrand Drive. Students will attend class at this temporary home for approximately two years, while their new school is being constructed. We hope to begin classes in our new home in Fall During the school year, the Thibodaux Tech students will select a mascot and school colors.

How to Get Started The application is open now. You can go to to apply for the inaugural class of the Thibodaux Career and Technical High School. You can download this power point there if you want to see it again, or show it to your family. Later this summer, a lottery will be held to assign the first 100 slots in this program to students who have applied. We’ll then have an orientation meeting, so our inaugural students can visit their new home.

How to Get Started Soon, you and your family will receive a packet at your home with more information about the school. Please watch the video with your family, and talk about this opportunity. The packet will tell you about a meeting we’re having at Acadiana Technical College. You and your family can visit the college and ask more detailed questions about the program.
