A student who is on track to graduate may choose to attend a hands-on program at Washburn Tech A student who is on track to graduate may choose to attend a hands-on program at Washburn Tech Most programs lead to an Associate degree or a certificate in the field of study Most programs lead to an Associate degree or a certificate in the field of study Students who qualify will take the WorkKeys assessment to qualify for the program of desire. 3 19 Programs for High School Students 1. HealthCare Technology – class to test for Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) and/or Home Health Aide (HHA). (1 Semester) 2. Commercial Construction – acquire the technical skills and knowledge to work in commercial construction including experience with both interior and exterior construction systems. (2 Semesters)

4 Programs Continued 3. Business Administrative Technology – Students gain the knowledge and skills that prepare them for entry-level office positions. (2 Semesters) 4. Child Care – Students gain valuable experience working with young children while learning the processes and principles of growth and development. (2 semesters)

5 4 Semester Programs 5. Culinary Arts – learn skills to work under a chef or in a commercial kitchen. 6. Legal Office Professional – acquire the knowledge and skills to enter a support staff position in the field of law. 7. Medical Office Specialist – learn the skills necessary to work in a support staff position as part of a medical office team

6 4 Semester Programs 8. Computer Repair and Networking – acquire skills to become proficient computer service professionals and network technicians and are able to take industry certification exams. 9. Electronic Technology – gain technical skills and knowledge for positions in electronic services, maintenance, and production

7 4 Semesters Programs 10. Graphics Technology – complete design, photo and print projects to prepare them for entry level graphic arts industry. 11. Industrial Maintenance Technology – learn to repair and maintain industrial machinery and equipment. 12. Machine/Tool Technology – apply knowledge and skills to plan, manufacture, assemble, test, and repair parts, mechanisms, and machines.

8 4 Semesters Programs 13. Technical Drafting – learn drafting, with traditional tools and computer aided drafting software, and develop the skills needed for entry level positions with many industries that use technical drawings. 14. Welding – acquire skills needed to join or cut metal surfaces and become eligible to take industry exams

9 4 Semester Programs 15. Auto Technology – gain technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain all types of automobiles. 16. Collision Repair – learn to repair, reconstruct and finish automobile bodies, fender, and external features. 17. Diesel Mechanics – gain technical knowledge and skills to repair, service and maintain diesel powered equipment

10 4 Semester Programs 18. Cabinet/Millwork – Students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and complete cabinetry furniture, and millwork. 19. Electricity, Heating & Air Conditioning – apply technical knowledge and skills for two segments: electricity and/or heating and air conditioning. A short term certificate in HVAC is also offered in the evening.

11 How would Washburn Tech affect my schedule? Washburn Tech kids leave at 7:30 am and arrive back to school around 11:45 am. You do earn elective credit for your time at Washburn Tech.
