B OARD of G OVERNORS State University System of Florida 1 State University System (SUS) Standard Admission Requirements Coursework – 4 English – 4 Math (Algebra 1 or higher) – 3 Social Science – 3 Natural Science (2 with lab experience) – 2 same World Language – 2 Electives Core Listed in Florida Counseling for Future Education Handbook Test Minimums – Critical Reading SAT 460 or ACT 19 – Mathematics ACT 19 or SAT 460 – English with Writing Combined ACT Plus Writing 18 or SAT 440 Minimum HS GPA Universities may establish higher admission standards than those listed above

B OARD of G OVERNORS State University System of Florida 2 Tour Handouts Liberal Arts Math 1 & 2 will be accepted as core beginning for Summer 2014 admits. Please remind students that admission is competitive. Students should take the most rigorous coursework possible for their success.

B OARD of G OVERNORS State University System of Florida 3 SUS and Industry Certifications At this time, industry certifications approved for meeting mathematics and science high school diploma requirements are NOT accepted as one of the 4 math or 3 natural science credits required for SUS admission. Students may include information about any industry certifications in their application; however, it will not be counted as one of the 18 credits for admission purposes.

B OARD of G OVERNORS State University System of Florida 4 SUS Foreign Language Requirement Students are still expected to complete a foreign (i.e., world) language at the 2 nd level. Can be done by: Successful completion of 2 Credits in Same language (such as Spanish 1 & 2) 1 high school world language credit at 2 nd level (such as only French 2) Passing AP, AICE, or IB foreign language course (because intermediate level) Completing a second postsecondary course (a world language Elementary 2) as long as the course is 4.0 semester credits Passing third postsecondary course (a world language Intermediate 1), regardless of credits STUDENTS NOT COMPLETING THIS REQUIREMENT WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL MUST MAKE UP THE CREDITS AT A POSTSECONDARY INSTITUTION PRIOR TO GRADUATION FROM A UNIVERSITY. WORLD LANGUAGE TO THE 2 ND LEVEL IS ALSO REQUIRED FOR FCS A.A. GRADUATES.

B OARD of G OVERNORS State University System of Florida 5 CS/CS/HB 851 OUT-OF-STATE FEE WAIVER Conditions: Attended secondary school in Florida for 3 consecutive years immediately before graduating from high school in the state; Apply for enrollment in institution of higher education within 24 months after high school graduation; and Submit official H.S. transcript as evidence of attendance & graduation. Students still: Have to submit residency for tuition purposes documentation. If found to be a non-resident, apply for the out-of-state waiver (and provide transcript evidence along with completed form). Students will not be eligible for state financial aid.

Notice will be sent to DOE and District staff so that counselors will know where to find the information, including the distance learning catalog, in the future.
