ICT ? Information and communications technology usually called ICT, is often used as a synonym for information technology (IT) but is usually a more general term that stresses the role of communications in modern information technology. ICT consists of all technical means used to handle information and aid communication, including both computer and network hardware as well as necessary software.

Empowering Persons With Disabilities BARRIERS FOR THE PwDs Inadequate Education Facilities. Lack of Community Support Systems. Lack of Accessibility & Awareness. Lack of Access to Technology. Inadequate Health Care Systems.

Empowering Persons With Disabilities ICT FOR PwDs ICT could be used as a wider strategy for social inclusion of PwDs. Provides enhancements and changed methods of interaction with world. Promotes greater independence, to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish, or had great difficulty accomplishing.

Empowering Persons With Disabilities ISOLATION TO INTEGRATION THROUGH ICT Provides Cost effective technologies. Augmentation of human resource oriented technologies. User friendly and durable aids & appliances. All the information available at a common place. Helps disabled students by providing access to learning. Making website accessible. ICT tools that can offer support -Speech recognition, talking word processors, big pointer utilities, screen magnifiers, screen readers, electronic Braille, closed‐circuit television.

Empowering Persons With Disabilities IMPLEMENTATION OF ICT IN NHFDC Making the website accessible. Receiving of online applications for Education loans, from Training organisations /institutions, scholarships etc.,. Maintaining Loan accounting information through web based application software.

MAJOR INITIATIVE WILL BE TAKEN CARE BY NHFDC IN FUTURE Development of Online application for the PwDs to apply online for availing loan. Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice has given responsibility to develop a National level Job Portal for the Persons with Disabilities which shall act as a common, centralized platform that can provide a better range of services, viz. transparent and wider choices for candidates, guidance / counseling.
