Wolverines are inches long. Males are heavier. They weigh pounds. Females weigh pounds. They are blackish brown with bushy tails.

 Wolverines live around years.

 They are carnivores because they eat meat. They eat dead animals such as caribou, moose ground squirrels, and snowshoe hares.

 Less than 500 wolverines remain in 4 states and the Great Lakes region.

 They live in high elevations with scattered trees. They live in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and possibly the Great Lakes region.

 Claws  Babies have white fur  Powerful jaws  They use their sharp claws to defend themselves against larger animals.  Their white fur helps them blend in with the snow  Their powerful jaws help them rip into meat so they can eat.

 Wolverine kits, or babies, are born with white fur like polar bear cubs. Their fur is hydrophobic, which means it is waterproof, snow- proof, and frost-proof.

 Wolverines’ range will decrease because they don’t have enough snow. Climate change makes it warmer and their snow melts. They need snow to protect their babies.
