1 Tigers Kirsten & Jovonni

2 Fur Tigers have striped fur because they need to blend in to catch their prey. If their prey knew where the tigers were, they would run away.

3 Body Tigers have really big sharp teeth to hunt their prey. Tigers have to have sharp claws to claw their prey too. All tigers have blue eyes. Their eyesight is really good. Male tigers and female tigers weigh 400-700 pounds. Tigers are the biggest cats of all.

4 Mother Tiger and Cubs The mother stays with her cubs up to two or three months. They have up to six cubs. When tiger cubs are six months old, their mother takes them out to hunt. The mother cleans her fur before hunting.

5 Hunting Tigers are great hunters. Tigers eat meat too. Tigers eat bears, deer, pig, elk, buffalo, baby elephants and rhinos. They have pads on the bottom of their paws, so they can walk quietly to hunt. They can eat 88 pounds of meat.

6 What Tigers Do The mother tiger catches her prey and takes it to her cubs. Mother tiger hides her prey under grass, so other animals don’t get the prey. Tigers run fast too. Tigers scratch stuff to make their claws sharp. They are really good hearers. Tigers are loud. Tigers can blend in with the grass. It is called camouflage. They are good jumpers. They like to swim.

7 Where Tigers Live Every tiger has a home range. They live in forests, woods and grasslands.
