GAK! Is it a solid? Is it a liquid? Just what is this slimy, stringy, rubbery stuff? Just what is this slimy, stringy, rubbery stuff?

Gak is…. See if you can find the answer by making some yourself. See if you can find the answer by making some yourself.

Gak Recipe ► First, prepare BORAX solution: ► pour some BORAX in the cup and add water. When you add water, some of it may dissolve in the cup, and some of it may not. It doesn't matter if you add more or less water. ► Then stir it, so the BORAX dissolves partially in the water. Let is sit there for a little bit.

Next…. ► Now take the glue and squeeze some of it into the cup. ► Then add water - you need to double the amount of glue. Stir it thoroughly. Does it get dissolved easily?

Now your BORAX solution should be ready. ► You will need to pour some of the BORAX solution into the glue solution. ► Start with only one scoop of BORAX solution and stir it up with the stick. ► If it's still a lot of liquid there, pour another scoop. ► If you want, you can mix it with your fingers, it’s completely harmless.

How does the solution look now? Can you hold it in your hands?

Squeeze it. Is it bouncy? Try to stretch it with your hands – what happens? Hold it and let it stretch down.

► Does it act as a liquid or a solid? ► Explain

Recipe for Home ► - White glue (like Elmer's glue) - BORAX (Natural Laundry Booster) - Water - Salt - Cups - Stick - 1 straw - Water based marker
