Parts per Million The measurement used to determine the amount of a solute that has been dissolved in a solution.
4
To prepare a solution with a solute and solvent use the following equation. 1. Mass of the solution x %Solute = Mass of 100 Solute 2.Mass of Solution – Mass of Solute = Mass of Solvent
5
Determining the amount of solute and solution if the solution is 25% sugar and the mass of solution is 500g. 500g x 25% / 100 = 125g sugar 500g – 125g = 375g water
6
Calculate the amount of solute and solvent if the solution is 20% salt and the mass of solution is 300g.
7
300g x 20 / 100 = 60g salt 300g – 60g = 240g water
