What is the Gospel? Gospel means “Good News”. But what was the good news the disciples taught??? “ But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. ” (Acts 8:12) “ Then Paul... received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence...” (Acts 28:30-31)

The Kingdom of God was taught by Christ “ And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom...” (Matthew 9:35) “ And it happened afterwards, He travelled in every city and village, proclaiming and announcing the Gospel of the kingdom of God. ” (Luke 8:1)

The Kingdom of God was taught by the Apostles J “ And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the Kingdom of God. ” (Acts 19:8) “ So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the Kingdom of God... ” (Acts 28:23)

The Kingdom of God cannot be the Church “ Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God ” (1 Corinthians 15:50) “ When the Son of Man comes in His glory... then He will sit on the throne of His glory... Then the King will say to those on His right hand, Come you blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” (Matthew 25:31-34)

What are the features of a Kingdom? A King Co-Rulers Dominion (Land) Subjects Capital City

Jesus Christ the King “He (Jesus) will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 20:31-33) Pontious Pilate asked Jesus: “ Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say rightly that I am a king. For this reason I was born... ” (John 18:37)

Co-Rulers in God ’ s Kingdom “ Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection.... but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” (Rev20:6) “... and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the Earth. " (Rev 5:9-10) “ He who overcomes and keeps my works until the end, to him will I give power over the Nations.. “ (Rev 2:26-27)

The Lord ’ s Prayer says …

Jesus Said: “ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven... Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth. ” (Matt 5:5)

Years of Christ ’ s reign on Earth “... they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:6) “... and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the Earth. " (Revelation 5:9-10) “ There remains therefore a rest (Sabbath) for the people of God. ” (Hebrews 4:9) “ God rested on the Seventh Day.”

Jerusalem – Future world capital “ At that time Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of the LORD, and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem.” (Jeremiah 3:17) “... for the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before His elders, gloriously. ” (Isaiah 24:23) “... for the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before His elders, gloriously. ” (Isaiah 24:23)

The Kingdom of God (summary) King = Jesus Christ (John 18:37, Matt 25:31, Rev 17:14) Co-Rulers = Followers of Jesus (Rev 20:5, Rev 5:10, Matt 19:28) Land = The Earth (Rev 5:10; 11:15, Matt 5:5, Zech 14:9, Dan 2:44; 7:27) Subjects = Mortal people (Isa 65:20-22, Zech 14:16-17) Capital city = Jerusalem (Jer 3:17, Isa 24:23, Micah 4:2, Matt 5:35)

What will the Kingdom be like? Peace to all mankind (Luke 2:14, Isa 2:4, Ps 37:11; 72:7, Zech 9:10) One Government/One Religion (Isa 9:6-7, Zech 14:9, Isa 2:3, Ps 72:8) Long Life for mortal people (Isa 65:20) Abundance of food (Ps 72:16, Jer 33:6, Mic 4:4, Isa 35:1, Eze 36:29) Peace with the animal world (Isa 11:6-9; 65:25) Paradise on Earth (1 Cor 2:9, Isa 35:1, Num 14:21, Hab 2:14)

NO MORE WAR! Peace in God ’ s Kingdom “ He shall judge between many peoples, and rebuke strong nations afar off; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. ” (Micah 4:3) “ In His days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of Peace. ” (Psalm 72:7)

Mortals live much longer “ Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. ” (Isaiah 65:20-NIV) Adam lived to over 900 years of age!

An abundance of food “ The desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose... ” (Isaiah 35:2) “ There will be an abundance of grain in the earth... ” (Psalm 72:16) “ But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree... ” (Micah 4:4)

“ The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, The leopard shall lie down with the young goat, The calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. ” (Isaiah 11:6)

PARADISE ON EARTH: “ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those that love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

What will the Kingdom be like? Peace to all mankind (Luke 2:14, Isa 2:4, Ps 37:11; 72:7, Zech 9:10) One Government/One Religion (Isa 9:6-7, Zech 14:9, Isa 2:3, Ps 72:8) Long Life for mortal people (Isa 65:20) Abundance of food (Ps 72:16, Jer 33:6, Mic 4:4, Isa 35:1, Eze 36:29) Peace with the animal world (Isa 11:6-9; 65:25) Paradise on Earth (1 Cor 2:9, Isa 35:1, Num 14:21, Hab 2:14)

Baptism: An essential step to God ’ s Kingdom “ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptised will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. ” (Mark 16:15-16)
