What does it mean to be a Trustee? 6 Well you can’t be a RHINO! Really Here in Name Only Trustees: meet monthly are legally responsible for dadlg volunteer to support activities

One organisation – Two halves! 7

So what’s the difference? County-wide A universal service open to families with children and young people with a disability Subsidised events and activities (short breaks) through contract with Durham County Council Must live within County Durham DADLG Broker best price for events and activities taking advantage of group and disability rates Funded through bids to funding providers and member subscriptions can live in County Durham OR surrounding areas 8

What’s the same? We provide sport, leisure and social opportunities for children and young people with disabilities and their families We try as hard as we can to provide events and activities that you want, at a price you can afford We ask you for ideas and suggestions and wherever we can we provide it We try to provide a wide range of activities for children and young people up to the age of 25 (and older for dadlg events) 9

So what exactly do we do? 10

Managing allocation of places Countywide? If fewer people than places (or exact number) request it’s simple – everyone goes If more people request than places available: Not first come first served Will increase places available if possible BUT Deadlines Booking requests Reserve list No shows! Repeat activities – Bowling!!!!! 11

How can you help? If you book and just don’t turn up We lose money Places are wasted because we can’t offer them to families on the reserve list 12

We’re on the move! We’re moving our base from Maiden Castle to Sherburn A.S.E.T. Maiden Castle can’t give us the space we need for our regular activities any more so Taekwondo has gone back to Spennymoor and Trampoline Club is moving to A.S.E.T. We need dedicated office space We’ll still be working with Durham University We’ll be working with new partners as well 20
