Presentation transcript:

The Windows 7 Desktop you are familiar with is still here with a few differences. This is still where you find the most common apps like Word, Internet Browsers, special programs, and your own desktop icons. This will be the first screen you see when you logon to the computer. The Start Button takes you to the Apps view and is no longer used to logoff. We have created a Computer Logoff icon for this purpose. The Computer Icon shows all your files and folders, USB drives, and your T:drive.

The Apps view is where you can see all applications installed on your PC. This is the same list of Apps that appeared on the Start Menu in Windows 7. To toggle between Desktop and Apps view, click the Start Button or press the Windows logo key on your keyboard. (Note: the Start Button on this screen is invisible until you hover over it.) To access the Start screen click the Up Arrow near the lower-left corner of the screen. If you wish to return to the Desktop, simply press the Windows logo key on your keyboard

The Start screen can be used to pin specific applications for quick use. This optional feature has been left largely unpopulated so you may use it as you wish. o The icons (tiles) you currently see cannot be removed. o The Store and SkyDrive tiles do not function. These customizations are saved to the local computer and will not roam from classroom to classroom. Return to the Apps view by clicking the Down Arrow.. If you wish to return to the Desktop, simply press the Windows logo key on your Keyboard.
