1. Lab Lesson Three: How to save to a USB (or Flash) Drive

2. Insert your USB (or Flash) Drive

3. You will see THIS message at the bottom right of your screen:

4. Then, wait for THIS message to appear at the bottom of your screen:

5. Now, you will create a file: Click on: 1.Start 2.All Programs 3.New Office Document Your screen should look like the following slide….

6. Click on Blank Document

7. Type “Practice Page” on the blank Word Document

8. Click “File” in upper left hand corner of your screen…

9. Click “Save As”

10. I know you’re ready to use that Flash drive but FIRST Save your work to your network storage in case you lose your flash drive! So….

11. From the PDM (Pull Down Menu), select the “monitor” icon with YOUR Username, followed by an IP address (10.16.4.15…) …

12. Now you’re READY!!!

13. From the PDM (Pull Down Menu), select the name of your device, here, it’s the “STORE N GO” icon

14. Then check (or change) the file name at the bottom:

15. Click “Save”

16. Close the Word Document Window

17. Now, you are ready to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON SAFELY REMOVING YOUR FLASH DRIVE: Don’t TOUCH that Flash Drive Yet!!!!

18. Click on the arrow at bottom right of screen to “Show hidden Icons”

19. Click on the icon with a green check to “Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media”

20. Click on “Eject STORE N GO” OR the name of YOUR device…

21. When AND ONLY WHEN you see this message…

22. Safely remove your device!
