DfES Contract 2014/ Survey colleges to identify current good practice in GCSE re-sits including the outcomes of the re-sits taken and grade inflation Based on this identify how existing good practice may improve outcomes in the new GCSEs with specialist ES and GCSE staff With the staff develop a CPD programme to improve re-sit outcomes, attainment and progression Deliver the CPD programme to FE and ACL sectors QA the CPD programme and its impact on practice KB + FH Autumn 2014 Update SCMs

DfES Contract 2014/ Establish task and finish groups for ten vocational areas to design the Essential Skills controlled tasks at L1, L2 and L3 Ensure each group has a ColegauCymru facilitator, 3 ES specialists (Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy), 2 NTfW representatives, 2 FE vocational specialists and include an ACL, Basic skills and WBQ specialist Develop and moderate the vocational controlled tasks for Essential Skills; QA the controlled tasks with AOs; Pilot and evaluate the fitness for purpose of the controlled tasks with a representative sample of learners KB + FH Autumn 2014 Update SCMs

DfES Contract – CPD phase Key components: identification and agreement for the CPD delivery team for FE, ACL and WBL agree the programme of delivery detailing timescales and venues of - College based CPD Pan Wales network based CPD Webinar based CPD (being developed with JISC) Develop CPD material and train the trainers Deliver the CPD programme and review Feed- back will be requested for all CPD sessions to maintain quality and refine the training if necessary. DfES Contract Challenges for us all: timescales very tight with most delivered by March 2015 need to secure staff from providers recognising the challenges that poses to release them need to liaise effectively with different DfES sections, regional consortia’s role with schools, AOs especially WJEC AO’s CPD is on qualification content and assessment criteria Regional consortia and ColegauCymru emphasis is on pedagogy and best practice KB + FH Autumn 2014 Update SCMs
