Blue light indicates status:  Steady-state: battery fully charged  Slow blink: charging in process  Fast blink: fault condition, return for service When device is in use: 2 fast blinks, pause: low battery, needs to be charged

Back to Table of Content Page Battery Status Indicator Battery status indicator on Main Menu screen during use Full battery symbol represents full charge Reduces to empty battery in increments corresponding to discharge of battery NOTE: Battery life can vary based on product configuration. For maximum battery life, charge when 5- 10% of battery remains, rather than fully depleting it.

Back to Table of Content Page Conducting a Test

Back to Table of Content Page Select & Attach an Ear tip

Back to Table of Content Page Insert Probe Probe should be snug, but comfortable Deeper fit is better for OAE measurement Probe should remain in place on its own without any hand- holding

Back to Table of Content Page Starting the Test Press  LEFT or RIGHT  to begin test Probe check screen will display. This checks for a good probe fit and seal in the ear (which blocks outside noise). When the scale displays green the test will progress. If the scale is in the amber color all the way to the left, the probe does not detect that it is inserted into an ear. If the scale is grey, it has not yet detected a seal. Once a seal is detected, it will turn green.

Back to Table of Content Page Starting the test with P.E. Tubes If testing a patient with P.E. Tubes in place: Press and hold Right or Left arrow to test. Note: Pressing and holding the right or left key bypasses the probe-check, which checks the stability of the probe in the ear and can be affected by a large ear canal volume which is the case with P.E. Tubes. If no tubes are present, always allow the probe-check to sequence on its own and do NOT by-pass it by holding down the arrow keys.

Back to Table of Content Page Test Sequence Progression of test displayed on the screen. Each column is a frequency (kHz). Bars represent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in dB. Value graph screen displays level of noise floor (  ) and OAE (  or  ). When test is finished, result is displayed. Begin test in opposite ear by pressing  LEFT or RIGHT  SNR Graph Value Graph

Back to Table of Content Page Results “PASS” on the screen indicates the patient passed the screening. “REFER” indicates that the patient did not pass the screening, and should be referred for further testing. “NOISY” indicates that excessive noise was present during the test.  Reduce noise sources, and test again. “NO SEAL” indicates that a seal was not maintained throughout the test.  Try fitting with a different ear tip and test again. “FIT ERR” indicates inadequate probe placement in the ear canal to produce target stimulus intensities.  Try a deeper fit in the canal, and test again.

Back to Table of Content Page Results General Rule of Thumb: When the test result is “Noisy,” “No Seal,” or “FIT ERR” the tester should reposition the probe, selecting a different size ear tip if necessary, and retest.

Back to Table of Content Page Storing Results in Instrument The result is automatically stored in the instrument. (NOT long term storage) Storing Options: 1.Save as R/L ear for one patient A new test will overwrite result of the previous test 2.Save 250 tests All tests will be saved and not be overwritten Tests are numbered 1 through 250 Must keep track of patient test number(s) 3.Save under Patient Name Requires use of Database software Device should be set to save 250 tests if using patient names Tests will be saved under patient name instead of numbered ** Results should then be Printed to Thermal Printer or saved to Database for long-term storage or test review. **

Back to Table of Content Page Database & Patient Names Patient names can be loaded into the EROSCAN unit through the database software. (Note: set device to store 250 tests). Tests can be performed under specific patient names and then reloaded back into database. Tests in unit can also be saved as regular R/L tests and loaded into database as an un-named patient. The un-named test results can then be dragged to a patient name in the database.
