3 AnalyzerPlus is used alongside our Nova range of instruments and is our newest piece of software. We have put together a summary of what this package can do to assist you. Getting Started First, we will start with how to download the measurement from your Nova device. Then we will move on to elaborate on how to use the other functions of AnalyzerPlus This presentation is separated out into sections based on their coinciding headers.

4 Downloading Your Data In order to download measurements you should plug the mini USB into the bottom of the Nova (Green Box) Once the measurements are selected, you can select the categories (Red boxes) that the measurement data will be placed in. These are the place, the person who took the measurement and the project the measurement is part of. You can add new places, categories and projects using the corresponding add buttons (Green boxes). Once finished, you can then press the download button (Blue box). Now the data is loaded into AnalyzerPlus, you can sort your data by each of the categories in order to find the measurement you need using the drop down box (Red box). Once plugged in, AnalyzerPlus will prompt you with a download window (shown below). You then should select the measurements that you wish to download from the list.

5 File The file menu gives the user the ability to Select a Database, selecting this brings up a new window, this window gives the user the ability to create, delete or add existing databases to AnalyzerPlus. Tools The Tools menu shown above gives the user two options, these are: Import Measurements and Export Measurements Import Measurements Selecting Import measurements gives you an open dialog box, where you can browse and locate any measurements that are stored on their PC. Export Measurements Tools Export measurements is greyed out until you select a measurement that is already loaded into AnalyzerPlus. Once you have selected a measurement and clicked Export Measurement, AnalyzerPlus will present you with the above window, this gives you a chance to choose the options that they wish to export the data with. Once the Export button is selected you are presented with an open dialog box so that you can browse the folder that you wish to export their measurement/s to. Once the data is exported the database is encrypted such that it is only readable by AnalyzerPlus. The menu is where most the basic functions of analyser plus stem from e.g. Opening databases or importing data. The Menu

6 Loading a Measurement (Summary) In order to load a measurement, you should navigate to the measurements section shown below: You should then click the arrow at the side of the user, this will display all the measurements taken by that person. (See below) In order to view the data in a measurement, you should right click that measurement and select Open measurement. This can also be done by double clicking the measurement, this menu also gives the user the choice of deleting the measurement or exporting the measurement to a folder on your computer. Once you have opened your measurement, yuor measurement data will be displayed (Right image), the data will be opened with the summary tab selected from the tabs selection groups (Red box). This tab shows a summary of the measurement data (Green box), the details of that data e.g. Name, Date/Time (Blue box), and a graph of the measurement data (Yellow box) It should be noted that if a customer does not have Octaves on your Nova device then you will not have the Octaves and Hearing Defenders tabs in AnalyzerPlus.

7 Viewing a Measurement (Time History) In order to view the time history data, select the “Time History” tab. This tab will give you the option to add more values to the graph (Red box) e.g. LAFMax, LCPeak. It also gives you the choice for the user to add frequency data on to the graph (Blue box) e.g. 1kHz. Right click menu The right click menu be accessed by right clicking on the time history graph, this menu gives you a great deal of options. Zooming: you can zoom in on the graph to get a clearer view of the data. (See example below) Mark point and Mark Period: This gives you the ability to mark positions and give them a label (See example below) When you select either of these options they are prompted with a window that enables you to choose the colour of the marker and also add a label to describe what you are pointing to.

8 Viewing a Measurement (Octaves) The Octaves tab gives you the ability to see your measurement data split into octaves. There are two tick boxes (Red box) that can be used to show the ‘A’ and ‘C’ weighted values on the chart. You can also view the octave data throughout the time history of the measurement, this is done by selecting the Time History radio button (Red box). This option lets you view the octaves per sample of the measurement. You can then select play (Green box) to see a full run through of the time history. Overall Octaves Time History Octaves

9 Viewing a Measurement (Hearing Defenders) The Hearing Defenders tab is one of the most innovative parts of AnalyzerPlus, this is where the measurement is used to find Hearing Defenders that are most suited to solving the noise problem. This uses a database of known hearing defenders, the manufacturers, type and the APV level that that particular hearing defender protects from. You can add their own to this database by right clicking and selecting “Advanced – Add” The section below shows the effect that a particular hearing defender has on the noise in the measurement (Red box). The graph visualises this data across the frequency range (Green box). There is also a section where you can specify to only show Hearing Defenders that are better than a specific decibel level (Blue box). 10 Viewing a Measurement (Reports) The reports tab is probably our most used system, this gives you the ability to generate a report for your measurement to print out or just to save to your computer. The list box (Red box) gives all the types of reports that you can generate. Once you have selected a type, you have the option to change the organisation options (Blue box). Once these options have been selected, simply click “Generate Report”. You can choose to preview, save or print that report using the buttons below (Green box). Below is an example of a Measurement Summary Report preview.

11 Measuring noise in the workplace The Control of Noise at Work Regulations (2005) state that you are required to collate the following measurements: Continuous ‘A’-weighted sound pressure level (LAeq). This is the sound a member of staff is exposed to during a shift or working day (also expressed as Leq or LAeq or LAeq,t) Maximum ‘C’-weighted peak sound pressure level(s) to which a member of staff is exposed (also shown as LCPeak). These can be the loud bangs in the workplace. You should also ensure that the instrument is able to comply with the functionalities and conformities in concurrency with their countries’ current legislation such as: Compliance with the current standards for sound level meters IEC 61672-1 – minimum Class 2* Ability to measure LAeq and LCPeak (see previous section for details)

12 Benefits So what are the benefits of using the Pulsar AnalyzerPlus Reporting Software? This software is suitable for non-experts as it is simple to operate. The collated data is easy to read and presented in an aesthetically pleasing way. Automatic entering of data into the database. The software makes it quick and simple to download measurements The upgrades to the software are done automatically from a remote server.
