EE&C Guidelines for Malaysian Industries Background:  The government through its cooperation with Japan government under the GPP (Green Partnership Programme) has included energy benchmarking as one of its main programme agenda  PTM under the Malaysian Industrial Energy Efficiency Improvement Project (MIEEIP) took up the role to develop the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Guidelines as an enhancement to the existing Benchmarking programme.  The development of the guidelines was kicked off with assistance from JETRO and ECCJ, which dispatched experts to guide and review the guideline development.  Energy Commission is taking the role roles of steering the development and publishing the guidelines.

Electrical Energy- Use Equipment Objectives:  To provide guidance to the Malaysian Industries for efficient utilization of electrical energy-use equipment in a generic way.  To promote EE and EC activities in Malaysian industries particularly on the energy benchmarking of commonly-used equipments  Encourage industries to use the guidelines as a reference document for EE and EC activities  Reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) that have global warming potentials through efficient use of energy in equipment

Trained staffs on energy management and implementation of Energy Efficiencies and conservation activities. Data on Building Energy Index for government buildings in Malaysia for various type and categories. Best practices and policy recommendation on energy conservation in various types of buildings.

CETREE Activities Center for Education and Training on RE and EE (CETREE)- to provide quality information and services to increase awareness amongst the public, private sector and government officials on the applications and benefits of Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE). Developed RE and EE in school curriculum. Trained school teachers on the RE and EE subjects. Conducted competition Demo school project

NEXT ACTION Develop EE and EC Guidelines for Malaysia Industries (Part 2: Thermal equipment) Execute pilot projects in accordance with the guidelines Extend EE labelling equipment (from refrigerator and motor) Encourage local manufacturers to introduce and produce more EE equipment
