 Also called Acrochordons.  Skin tags are common, acquired, benign skin growths that look like a small piece of soft, hanging skin.  Skin tags are harmless growths.  Some individuals may be more prone to tags and can get more than tags.  The color is usually appears a dark or light brown.

 A cutaneous tag usually occurs in older adults, but can be found in teens as well.  They are more common in people who are overweight or who have diabetes.  Both Men and Women can have them.  Women of normal weight with large breasts have more of a change to developing skin tags under their breast.

 A skin tag at first may appear as a tiny bump on the skin.  Over time, it grows into a colored piece of skin attached to the skin surface by a stalk.  It is usually painless, but can become irritated if it is rubbed a lot.  Skin tags doesn’t grow or change.  Can occur on the neck, underarms, middle of body, under folds of skin, eyelids, or other areas.  There are no symptoms.

 Treatment is usually not needed.  The doctor may recommend treatment if the skin tag is irritating, or you don't like how it looks.  Surgery to remove it  Freezing it (cryotherapy)  Burning it off (cauterization)

 There is No cure for skin tags.  Even if you remove them by any of the treatments there is still a chance you can get skin tags again.

 There is No way to prevent a skin tag from appearing it just grows.
