Traditional Central Station This is a preview of what a Traditional Central station looks like                         A typical central station could have various types of receivers to accommodate the multiple communication formats being sent to the station. A duplication of receivers is required because of the UL/ULC approval needs.

Virtual Central Station A central station preview with a Virtual Receiver connection                         A Multi-Format and Virtual Receiver provides for any communication format to be received on any available line card and does not require the purchase of two complete receivers for UL/ULC approval. The System III has UL/ULC approval for automatic redundancy built into it’s dual cabinet, configuration.

Traditional Receivers UL/ULC Redundancy This shows a typical duplication of conventional receivers for UL/ULC. How do they switch from one receiver bank to the other ? This is usually done by the use of an A/B switch that is operated manually. This is a time and resource consuming process Do you have a plan of action?

Virtual Receiver UL/ULC Redundancy System III Dual CPM3 Dual PSU3 Dual PSC3 Dual DC/DC Virtual Line Cards The System III Receiver has built in UL/ULC redundancy. Failure of one component results in auto switching to back-up component.

How to Communicate to a System III Receiver Telephone Numbers are pointed to a PRI – Primary ISDN Service. Any Telephone number can be pointed to any available channel. The objective of a System III is to take full advantage of a North America PRI-ISDN or International ISDN30 circuit. The PRI or ISDN30 is a multi-channel digital circuit providing for existing primary telephone numbers to be pointed as needed to any available voice channel when a call is initiated from an alarm panel. The PRI or ISDN30 circuit must be terminated on a compatible PBX switch or channel bank. Voice Channel for event info “D” Channel with ANI – DID/DNIS info

How to Communicate to a System III Receiver The PRI needs to be terminated and converted back to Analog Most common product used in N.A. is the Adtran Atlas 550 or Lucent (Avaya) PBX The System III is up to a 24 line receiver The PRI is 23 Voice channels In North America the PRI-ISDN circuit is a maximum 24 channels with the 24th channel being the “D” channel. The “D” channel provides the two important features which allows for the System III to become a virtual receiver and use the patented AHS service. Voice Channel for event info “D” Channel with ANI – DID/DNIS info

How to Communicate to a System III Receiver (International Market) International Market with ISDN-30 Orion Telecom Networks ISDN-30 channel bank The System III is up to a 24 line receiver The ISDN-30 has 29 voice channels The International ISDN30 circuit comprises of 30 channels with the “D” channel being channel 30. As with the North American PRI the “D” channel provides important information for the System III. ISDN30 must be terminated on compatible PBX switch or special channel bank from Orion with DSC System III software. Voice Channel for event info “D” Channel with ANI – DID/DNIS info

System III Receiver Analog Connections Any incoming call can be answered by any line card. All line cards know the telephone number the panel is calling to. All line cards work as one giant “line pool” “D” channel on the PRI Where the panel is calling to DNIS/DID Where the panel is calling from ANI The feature set of the PRI or ISDN30 “D” channel provides for an identifier of where the alarm panel is calling too (DID/DNIS) and where calling from (ANI). The PBX or channel bank must be capable of passing the DID/DNIS and ANI information out of the analog port as DTMF tones to the System III. For example 4167298654*1234*

How Many Communication Formats Are There? If any call can go to any line cards then all line cards must have the ability to receive any format ! Over 100 formats SIA 1, 2, 3, 8, 20, Contact ID, Pulse, Modem II, IIe, IIIA Squared, ITI, Silent Knight FSK1, FSK2, Sescoa Super Speed, DMP, Westec and many more! System III can receive the formats, it is not interactive, ITI, DMP. The System III is able to receive any event from any control panel using any available communication format. To be able to achieve this it is necessary the System III can manage all known formats on all available line cards.

The Virtual Receiver Concept The “D” channel on the PRI-ISDN provides two features… DNIS/DID. This is the identifier of the telephone number the panel will call to.. ANI. This looks the same as Caller ID and is where the panel is calling from.. ANI. Where the panel is calling from DNIS. Where the panel is calling too * The ANI information shows where the control panel is located and calling from. * The DID/DNIS information shows what telephone number the control panel is calling to, if all line cards know this information then the call can be answered on any line card. Note each DID/DNIS number is associated with a receiver phone number. ANI: 416-665-4494 416-665-4494 DNIS: 7618 800-418-7618

Automatic Handshake Selection Patented service created by Sur-Gard                         AHS is the patented feature of taking the ANI information off of the “D” channel, this is where the control panel is calling from. If the ANI information is always present the System III has the built-in intelligence to remember the ANI number and automatically learn the handshake the control panel needs to sent it’s data.

First Time the Panel Calls to the System III The AHS Receiver First Time the Panel Calls to the System III ANI. Where the panel is calling from Handshake order 2300Hz 1400 Hz Dual-Tone SIA ITI Modem IIIA2 The standard practice of a conventional receiver is to present a series of handshakes to the control panel, eventually providing the handshake the panel requires to send it’s data. 416-665-4494 ANI: 416-665-4494

The AHS Receiver Which Handshake does the Control Panel need? HS #1 = 1 second 2300 Hz Wait = 4 second HS #2 = 1 second 1400 Hz HS #3 = 1 second 2300-1400 Hz HS #4 = 1 second SIA – “YES” 9 seconds of on-line time before the panel received the handshake it required. How about Radionics, ITI or Handshake #5-#6 Conventional receivers will present handshakes to the panel until the correct one is sent. This will take time and on a 800 service can be considerable amounts of money. The System III using the ANI information and AHS feature can learn the handshake the panel needs, by doing this the correct handshake is always presented to the control panel and by doing so will eliminate on-line time thus reducing the customers long distance phone bill.

The AHS Receiver How do You Save Money $ ? Eliminate individual phone lines with one PRI Cancel all existing roll-over lines and numbers Only keep the telephone numbers in the panels With the patented AHS service there is an average on-line saving of 4 seconds 20,000 accounts with 12 signals per month = 240,000 signals 4 second saving per signal = 240,000 x 4 = 960,000 seconds 960,000 seconds = 16,000 minutes or 266 hours per month 266 hours per month saving off the phone bill !! Any time saving off the 800 service can save the client money off their telephone bill, on the System III any second counts to save money. Here is an example of saving time and money.

What Is Disaster Recovery? Station A In the case of a disaster the phone numbers can be pointed to another PRI going to another location. The DNIS/DID identifies where it was calling to..                         Station B 800-762-8934 = 8934 800-543-5176 = 5176 800-876-5009 = 5009 516-221-5411 = 5411 = DNIS or DID numbers Disaster recovery capability becomes an easier process when a virtual receiver is used with DID/DNIS feature off a PRI or ISDN30 circuit. The DID/DNIS information identifies where the panel is calling to. The Call-to telephone number is pointed to the PRI or ISDN30 circuit, however the same telephone number can be pointed to another PRI or ISDN30 circuit if needed. This PRI or ISDN30 circuit can be terminated at a different receiving location.

Dynamics of a System lll 24 lines = 60,000 – 70,000 account A Virtual receiver provides for approximately 3 times the account volume of a conventional receiver, this is achieved by the use of the DID/DNIS and ANI with AHS service. If any incoming call can be answered by any available line card all line cards are used in a “line pool” This provides maximum use of all line cards, ad to this less on-line time with ANI-AHS feature.

Sur-Gard System III with IP Connection TL250 IP Communicator Power 864 Maxsys PC4020 The TL250 is fully compatible with the Power 864 and the Maxsys 4020 for reporting as well as using DSC upload download software. The TL250 features 128 bit AES encryption with supervision resulting in ULAA high line security approval as well as its ULC Level 5 approval. The TL250 can be configured with a DHCP or static IP address and communicates with the System III over a LAN/WAN or Intranet/Internet connection. The DRL3-IP line card in the System III requires a static IP address and supports up to 1024 TL250’s. NOTE: of the 1024 TL250’s supported by each DRL3IP card only 512 can be supervised. Sur-Gard System III with IP Connection TL300 Universal IP Communicator Contact ID output The TL300 is a universal IP communicator that is compatible with any alarm panel that can be configured to use the Contact Id format by connected the unit to the tip & ring of the panel. The TL300 features 128 bit AES encryption with supervision resulting in ULAA high line security approval as well as its ULC Level 5 approval. The TL300 can be configured with a DHCP or static IP address and communicates with the System III over a LAN/WAN or Intranet/Internet connection. The DRL3-IP line card in the System III requires a static IP address and supports up to 1024 TL250’s. NOTE: of the 1024 TL300s supported by each DRL3IP card only 512 can be supervised. System III with DRL3-IP line cards Any Control Panel which communicates using Contact ID

Sur-Gard System III with IP Connection TL250D IP Communicator (Canadian Market Only) Sur-Gard DVACS Components DV1660 LCD DV1660 LED DV4420 DVCOM DV4T DVT1 TL250D The TL250D is used in place of the existing F1/F2 subset. Simply connect the TL250D to an existing Sur-Gard panel or DSC DVACS communicator. The TL250D will then take the DVACS output for the Sur-Gard panel or DSC communicator and communicate the event over a LAN/WAN or Intranet/Internet. The TL250D has ULC level 5 approval.
