Transition and your Family Transition impacts you and your FAMILY (spouse, children, parents and friends) Having a plan and being informed about opportunities and benefits makes the transition easier Preserving your skills and experiences in the Army Reserve (USAR) or Army National Guard (ARNG) is beneficial to the total Army and your family There are many opportunities available to provide security and protection for your family

Reserve Components (RC) If you join the ARNG or the USAR: You will train with an assigned unit (of your choice) one weekend per month and two weeks annually. For this, you will receive pay, and continue to enjoy the many benefits that come with continued military service.

RC Pay Example Pay benefits: Battle Assembly / Weekend Drill (48 MUTAs per year) - Multiple Unit Training Assemblies (MUTA) - Sat/Sun = four MUTAs = four active duty days Annual Training (AT) pay - Generally 2 weeks Example Rank: Service: Yearly Earning:(includes Weekend Drills and Annual Training ) Monthly Earning:(does not include Annual Training) E-7/SFC 12 ~$8,138 ~$516 O-3/CPT 8 ~$11,824 ~$750

RC Retirement Active Duty: Active Duty Soldiers who transfer to RC formations will earn 365 or 366 active duty points for every year of active duty. Example: MSG/E8 with 20+years of Service(6 Years AC) born in 1970 would earn in Today's Dollars $1,106/Month and $1,828/Month at Age 60 (Year 2030) The calculator for Reserve Component Retirement can be found at: https://www.hrc.army.mil/Calculators/RetirementCalc.aspx

Tricare Benefits Tricare Reserve Select Premiums: MEMBER ONLY: $51.62 (2013 Rate) MEMBER AND FAMILY: $195.81 (2013 Rate) Maximum Out-of-Pocket Costs: The maximum amount you'll have to pay each fiscal year (1 OCT thru 30 SEP) is called the catastrophic cap. This cap applies to annual deductibles, pharmacy co-payments, Tricare Prime enrollment fees and all other copayments or cost shares you pay for Tricare-covered services. The cap varies depending on who you are: Beneficiaries enrolled in Tricare Reserve Select: $1,000 per family, per fiscal year All others: $3,000 per family, per fiscal year In most cases, you are not responsible to pay for any amounts above the catastrophic cap, but there are some exceptions Current information can be found at www.tricare.mil/trs

Tricare Dental Administered by MetLife Premium Costs: Select Reserve (USAR/ARNG) & Family Members: Sponsor Only = $10.66 Sponsor and Family = $90.57 Soldier must have 12 months remaining on their obligation.
