IDOT’s Hiring Process

IDOT Job Titles IDOT has two different types of positions CMS Code Positions Examples: Office Assistant, Office Associate, Highway Maintainer, etc. These positions require a grade from CMS Candidates should complete the CMS 100 application IDOT Technical Positions Examples: Technical Manager, Engineering Technician, Civil Engineer, etc. These positions do NOT require a grade from CMS Candidates should complete the IDOT Technical application (PM 1080 form)

Temporary Employment Opportunities IDOT has a Summer & Winter Technical Trainee Program Winter Program: January 1st – May 15th The agency generally posts these positions in November of the previous year Summer Program: June 1st – December 15th The agency generally posts these positions in April Tech Trainees are considered Temporary Seasonal Employees.
