 Washington D.C. is full of history and has plenty of monuments and memorials to see and explore. Here are just a few of the most popular sites to visit: The Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial, The Jefferson Memorial, The Korean War Memorial, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The FDR Memorial, The U.S Capitol, and The White House.

- Founded in Important port during the revolutionary and Civil War periods. Alexandria is known today for its cobblestone streets, colonial houses and churches, museums, shops and restaurants.

Overlooking the Potomac River in Alexandria, Virginia (just south of D.C.), Mount Vernon is set on 40 wooded acres. The mansion has been restored using much of the original furniture, family relics, and duplicate pieces of the period based upon Washington's detailed notes.

The Kennedy Center is a large cultural complex opened 1971 in Washington, D.C., with a total of six stages, designed by Edward Stone. The complex, surfaced in marble, makes use of the ornamental facade screens for which the architect is known. Its three main theatres are entered from the Grand Foyer, which faces the Potomac River. The Concert Hall, the largest auditorium, has been designated a national monument; its acoustics are considered exceptional, and its embossed ceiling and crystal chandeliers have been much admired. The Kennedy Center is the nation's busiest performing arts center, hosting approximately 3,000 events each year for audiences numbering more than 2 million.

Georgetown is a neighborhood located in the Northwest quadrant of Washington D.C., along the Potomac River waterfront. Founded in 1751, the city of Georgetown substantially predated the establishment of the city of Washington and the District of Columbia. Today Georgetown is known for its many high-end shops, bars, and restaurants. Georgetown is home to the main campus of Georgetown University and numerous landmarks and embassies.
