What sort of environment will they need to be ICT-advanced in? School environment classrooms group rooms quiet areas open learning spaces Learner demands and needs multiple tools multiple modes Curriculum design personalisation whose curriculum? Assessment what for? who for? how demonstrated ? how measured?

What tools? Infrastructure Wireless Ethernet Bluetooth speed of access Kit Laptops Desktops Interactive whiteboards PDA phones IP TV, Video on demand, IP telephones Streaming media Virtual classroom tools Video conferencing tools

Some other questions Where will learning take place? What type of learning? Will there be age related and grade related classrooms? Will learners be given free time in the school day? What will school hours be?

Will learners make choices about… … who teaches them? … how they learn … where they learn? … who they learn with? … what they learn? … when they learn?

So what is the role of the ICT advanced teacher? And what skills should be developed in preparation? Adviser? Facilitator? Guide? Companion? Learning mentor? Manager? Orchestrator? And what role for other adults and peers? Leadership support? l
