5 th Grade Trip to Michigan June 1, 2012

Before  All students, teachers, and parent chaperones should be here no later then 6:30 A.M.

Before  Each chaperone will receive the tickets needed for the day when they arrive from the homeroom teacher.

Before  Chaperones will get a large garbage bag to place the lunches from their group into. Please label the bag with your Chaperone name and group #.

Leaving  We leave at 7:00 A.M.  *Busses (there are 7 busses) – All 5th grade students (333), all teachers (16), approximately 27 parents  *Cars – Approximately 35 ~ follow busses.

Leaving  Busses are equipped with bathrooms…but we discourage the use…emergencies only.  We will stop at a turnpike rest area at about the one hour/ 1.5 hour mark.

Arriving in Dearborn  Upon arrival  ~ Car drivers – meet your group at the entrance to Greenfield Village

Museums!  Go to your assigned museum (Ford or Greenfield)  While in museums ~ # 1 Priority ~ SAFETY! Please keep your group together. No one may wander off on their own. If a child goes into the bathroom, send them in with a buddy!  ~ Keep them hydrated.  ~Keep up a steady pace…there is a lot to see.  ~have the teachers cell number programmed into your cell  *call them with any issue (sick child, attitude/behavior, etc.)

Lunch  Lunch ~ all students’ lunches will be taken to the Ford Museum. They should be located in the front hall of the building. Eat inside or outside.  After lunch, continue on to the next museum.

Watch Out!  Keep an eye on kids’ hydration at this point. Watch how much $ is being spent! We usually have several shopaholics!

Dinner  Dinner ~ Each child and adult has already indicated what they will eat for dinner (turkey, ham, or PBJ dinner). You must be eating dinner by 3:30 P.M. Pick up your boxed dinners at the same place that your lunches were kept. Each child will get a dinner and a bottle of water. Eat either inside or outside. But, don’t go far! We will load the busses around 3:50 and depart by 4:15.

Going Home  Bus ride home: Please make sure your group is back on the correct bus and seats. Once you have checked in with the homeroom teacher, car riders can head home. If you are riding the bus back, sit back and relax, you will be tired! We will not stop on the return home. Bathroom break before you leave!

Schedule  6:30 AM All arrive at school and go to homeroom  7:00 AM Busses and cars depart  10:00 AM Arrive in Dearborn, Michigan.  10:00 AM Go to either museum you are assigned (Greenfield or Ford)  12:30 PMEat lunch  12:45 PM Go to the other museum  3:30 PM Eat dinner  4:15 PM Busses depart for Olmsted Falls, Ohio  7:00 PM Busses arrive in Olmsted Falls, Ohio
