A.N.Z.A.C. was the name given to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who, landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey. This took place in the early hours of the morning, on the 25 th April 1915 during the First World War ( ). During this battle Albert Jacka received the first Victoria Cross.

The A.N.Z.A.C. soldiers battled on the Gallipoli peninsula. While on the peninsula over 8000 soldiers died. On the first day of the campaign just under 1000 soldiers died. All of the A.N.Z.A.C. soldiers were volunteers. Most of the soldiers volunteered to travel or show off, because they came from less fortunate families.

The soldiers fought in the heat and the cool as they were battling the Turkish soldiers for eight months. This battle was a failed campaign but through this journey Australia was had many changes, e.g. Turkey and Australia are now allies.

The most commemorative time on A.N.Z.A.C. day is dawn. Because this was and is the ideal time to prepare for the enemy forces because it is still very dark and very few things are visible. As you can see in this picture the source of light is the eternal flame. Dawn service, Melbourne Shrine, 2012.

Allies: Counties that are fiends with other country. Navel: Water. Peninsula: A piece of land with three sides meeting the water. Commemorative: Memorable.
