Lines, Shapes and Other Art

 Simple and plain normally work for professionals, such as lawyers, doctors and corporations.  Simple and plain refers to straight lines and edges, and simple colors, preferably black (remember that’s professional), blue (traditional), brown (mature) or gold (the tint of brown is mature, the yellow grabs attention)

 Certain shapes represent certain things.  Shapes with sharp edges are used for products and companies that are “cutting edge.” ▪ The exceptions to this are rectangles and squares. These are traditional shapes  Shapes with round edges are smoother and, once again, represent stability and tradition.

 Vertical Lines give an illusion of thinness (same concept as fashion).  Have you seen a product on the shelves (outside of fashion) that has a horizontal line pattern?

 Anything you want the consumer to see should be centered to make them focus on that.  Most companies center and raise their logos toward the top of the product packaging.
