Location  Mt. Vesuvius is located in the Bay Of Naples, Italy.  It is about 9 kilometers away from Naples.  It is not far away from the seashore.

Latest Eruptions  It last erupted on March 13,  It is the only volcano in Europe that has erupted in the last hundred years.  It is an active volcano.

Damages and Casualties  It is not known how many deaths there were on the eruption of 1944, but 1,040 body casts were found around Pompeii.  The eruption of 1944 was one of the smaller eruptions.  The eruption destroyed 3 villages as well as part of a fourth.  And it destroyed 88 US airplanes in WW2.

Government Handlings  The government did very little about the eruption, because it was so small.

Interesting facts  It is 1,281 meters tall.  The city of Herculaneum was buried 75’ under ash.  It is most famous for the eruption of AD 79, where the death toll was 10,000+  Pompeii was destroyed through eruptions of AD 79
